This is my entry for the #HOOPERMODCHALLENGE .

My partner is autistic and uses fidget toys to manage his anxiety and he loved the Looper so much he wanted to take it everywhere which isn't really practical when the ball goes flying every time you fail!

So I thought I'd make a modification to the Loopy Looper that enables you to use it on the go!

I thought while I was doing that, I'd try to make it more inclusive for people with disabilities or kids who might struggle with the Looper while still retaining its original challenge because why not?

  • I closed the back of the Looper to prevent the ball from falling out (you can still fail, the ball just won't go flying out the back).

  • I rounded the back to make it easier to hold which makes it easier to keep your fingers out of the way too.

  • I added a clip on lid so you can pop the ball inside and take it with you without losing it and added a loop so you can clip it onto a bag or keyring etc.

  • I put cut-outs in the loop, lid and back of the Looper so you can see the ball moving with the lid on and no matter what angle you're holding it at.

  • The lid doesn't interfere with the path of the ball so you can loop with the lid on for a more relaxed looping experience and with no fear of losing the ball.

  • Looping with the lid on makes it easier for those who may struggle with the original Looper such as children or those with disabilities as the ball will always just roll back into the loop.

3D printing settings

I printed all parts simultaneously and it took about 7 hours with auto paint on supports at 35 degrees in Prusa Slicer.

Print speed 50 mm/s

I really think this would work well printed in a transparent material so you can see through the lid and have included a rendering of this but unfortunately can't achieve that kind of transparency with my FDM printer.
