If you have played Walkabout Mini Golf On the Oculus Quest then you realize the need for a real feeling putter to hone your skills and dominate the leader board. This putter adapter will allow you to more accurately putt and generally increase the enjoyment of the game.

This design offers two mounting options, one that is parallel with the controller and the best option which is the 90 degree mount. The 90 degree mount offers the best tracking and also much better weight distribution while putting. Both are viable options and while I have not tested it I would assume that this putter could be used for other vr golf games.

As of today we are waiting for additional adjustment to be added to Walkabout so the 90 degree mount can be used. Once the game is updated I will update the best settings to use in game.
If you use the parallel mount it is recommended to set the putter angle to 50 degrees. I am assuming the 90 degree mount will be around 35-45 degrees to make the putter match with the in game putter.

Included are designs for:
Two controller adapters one for the left and right controllers
Two looser tolerance controller adapters one for the left and right controllers
Classic spiral putter grip
Softened Square putter grip
15mm club shaft - for use with commercially available putter grips

I wanted to ensure that you have several options for your putter grip so I designed two grips that are designed to be similar to those that you might find at a sporting goods store. Additionally I am including a 15mm club shaft that you can print and simply go to a local sporting goods store and buy a standard size grip.

Note: Installing a grip on a golf club is not the easiest process but using a commercially available grip is the most immersive. if you choose to go this route I would recommend using soap and water or something similar to allow the grip to slide onto the printed shaft. Youtube can give you quite a bit of guidance on how to install grips.

In addition to printing the files you will need:
One 3/8" diameter 12" long threaded rod. Example: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Oatey-Steel-Threaded-Rod/1001223378
Also you will need one m3x20mm screw and one standard m3 nut.

Assembly:
To assemble, insert an m3 nut into the slot in the printed shaft or grip then temporarily insert the screw into the end and tighten until the nut is pulled into the lower hole. I have included a cut away image of the nut holder assembly so you can understand how it functions. After the nut is firmly seated simply remove the screw and thread the screw through the chosen mount in the halo connector and tighten firmly.

3D printing settings

It is highly recommended to use 5-8 perimeters or wall layers and around 20% infill on all parts. You really want these to be strong and extra perimeters is the best way to do that.

Support is needed for only the "Halo adapters" I have uploaded a couple images of how use supports for the model. It is highly recommended to block supports on the extending putter mounting arm. If supports are placed inside screw holes you would probably not be able to easily remove them.
