3D model description

These are three styles (H, Hx, & Hr) of magnetic bases for Axolote Hex Tiles made to replace the standard openlock connector bases.

They use magnetic balls to connect base to base and the standard Axolote Hex connector to connect base to tile. This was my attempt at mixing the best of both worlds. No modifications need to be made to any Axolote Hex tiles and they are riser and wall compatible. The magnetic balls have some nice features like not having to care about polarity, thanks Anomard. See the second video on his page to see them in action.

The tiles are also compatible with Anomard's tiles so you can use rbross wall's and doors with this system as well, using the flat hexes here and the drilling guide here.

I'm not 100% sure if this is the way I'm going to print all of my tile bases yet or if I'll end up using magnets on the tiles also, glueless tile insert in the works just waiting for magnets. But I thought I'd at least share these if they are useful to anyone. There is also a stackable version that prints w/o supports but I want to test it more before I print a bunch.

There is also a spot for a 5x2 magnet in the center. I thought there might be a chance it could interact with objects placed on top of tiles.

I found a pretty affordable source for the 3mm magnetic balls here: Walmart Link
