3D model description

Minimalistic set of chessmen designed by Herman Ohme in 1953.

Models were made with the most careful reproduction of the original design and taking into account the easiness of printing. The height of the tallest figure (king) is 11 cm.

Models were reproduced according to US patent 171286, which is included in the photos. Figures from the photos were made with the fuzzy skin feature.

3D printing settings

  • supports: no
  • infill: 5% gyroid
  • perimeters: 3
  • minimum bottom shell thickness: 3 mm

The hardest part to print is under the knight's jaw. It should print effortlessly, but slowing down bridges speed to 10 mm/s is recommended. The tip of the king also should be printed very slowly to avoid deformations.Thicker shell at the bottom is recommended for better stability.
