3D model description

This Drum Ornament is a perfect addition to round out your ornament collection. The simple but intricate design prints perfectly and looks great hung on a tree. I created this drum model in SolidWorks 2013.

A hook is included but is optional, string works better.

"The Little Drummer Boy" is a popular Christmas song written by the American classical music composer and teacher Katherine Davis in 1941.

In the lyrics the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the nativity where, without a gift for the infant Jesus, he played his drum with the Virgin Mary's approval, remembering "I played my best for Him" and "He smiled at me".

3D printing settings

Built on a Prusa i3 with 3mm pla

Temp: 185 Degrees Fahrenheit

I used a honeycomb infill to get the top of the drum nice and level, but any infill or support structures will do. No support structures necessary for the 'drum strings' on the side. Those print fine as is.

The Optional Ornament Hook was included for the purposes of the contest, string works better but the hook is still an option.
