Cyberpunk inspired lightblade Katana

3D model description

Made a 1/1 scale cosplay prop for the Katana from the Cyberpunk universe.
Whole model is separated into parts in the way that each one can fit on an Ender 3 size printer.
Print in PLA or ABS.

Full length: 112.5cm
Grip width: 4cm x 3.5cm
Grip length: 31cm

The blade part needs to be printed in translucent red or white filament.
Use a standard 12v 5W red or white LED strip for the lighting up the prop.
There is enough room inside the grip for an A23 12V battery.
Print the battery holder provided in the files, or by a factory made one.
Use 3x20 mm wood screws for the lid of the battery holder.
Paint the body and detail plates with spray paint. I used black and gunmetal silver.

Is there enough space to put in a neopixel LED strip, switch and Arduino Nano to I have some light animations in there?

Just put the LED strip directly to the 23A battery and slip in a switch between them. Simple as it gets. :)

Just finished printing this beauty, super excited to start assembly. Just curious, would you happen to have a wiring diagram for the led strip that you would be able to provide?

I'm going to assemble this awesome Katana early next week, and I'm wondering. Is there any mechanism for turning it on and off? is there a spot on the STL's that has a room for a switch?

It is used for a 4mm steel or aluminum rod that acts like a skeleton for the model. It adds more stability if you plan on using it as a prop on a con or similar.

Thanks for answering, but another question, the round canal inside the main blade, what is that used for? some sort of metal rod, to ensure stability of the blade or something else?

R2 has a slight offset of 0.3mm. I put it there as an option if someone uses a printer that is a bit older and has low tolerance.

First of all, awesome design! can't wait to print and build it!
Second, what's the diffrence between "Detail plate3 R" and "Detail plate3 R2" ?

My advice is to use an FDM printer. Costs less and is more efficient. All parts fit on a 21x21 cm bed, like ender 3. It won't fit on photon. Maybe on photon S... Largest piece is about 18cm in length.

How big is the largest piece? As, I assume, the pieces are flat-ike, I am trying to find out if will print in a Photon, when printed vertically or tilted.

About 400 grams of gray PLA and about 100 grams of translucent red PLA.

Sounds great, how much filament do you think it used to print?

I think it has enough room for an Arduino nano, not sure about the LI battery since I don't know it's size. But if the battery is low profile it could fit it all!

This looks bloody amazing.

Do you think a small microcontroller, lithium battery and switch could be fit into the grip to allow different colours and a rechargeable battery?
