Finally, the SMARS V4 is here!

The main features of this version, are the top closed batteries case, the RGB LED frame, the power switch and the new wheel’s design.


V4 is assemblable in 2 different configurations:

-V4_a Arduino nano based, this version offer an embedded design with no exposed electronics parts. Personally I suggest this version if you want to use your SMARS in a single modality (rc car for example). This version is designed to host also a Bluetooth or Wi-Fi module in it, so it’s practical for remote applications.

-V4_b Arduino UNO based, this version is more practical for continuous changes of the robot purpose, connections are easier to modify and also uploading the sketches doesn’t need any disassembly.

In the “documentation” folder, you will find the assembly instructions and the connection diagrams for both the versions. To add Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, simply connect the module to pin 0, pin 1, 5V and GND, there are a lot of tutorials online, google the name of the module for more information.

Maybe you’re asking yourself why this version is not free, here there are the main motivations:
-This version is more an aesthetic upgrade then a functional upgrade, SMARS V1 can basically do the same things so not buying it, will not limit your possibilities in this project.
- I discovered that some people are selling my design and that is not really nice, I spent hours of my personal time to design this system and knowing that people are not respecting my licenses hurts me.
- Not enough people are using my affiliate links, so I don’t have the budget for make big improvement and design mods with new features.

Hope you will understand, I’ll continue to share my designs for free but sometimes I’ll release some paid design, just to keep my projects alive.

is there a part number for the main power switch? I ordered the one from Ali and it is way too small. I guess you need a switch with a pitch of 5.08 mm and the ones from Ali have a pitch of about 2.5 mm. So far, I did not find any matching part, the closest I found are red switchtes with a pitch of 4.7 mm that might work.

Hello, I'am sorry for your experience, I spent a lot of time for make the assembly instructions for both models and the wiring diagrams. I also provided 2 demo sketches examples and our community is always there to help new members. I didn't focused myself too much on the code, cause the web is full of tutorials about Arduino bluetooth cars, robots that avoid obstacles and line followers and they can actually explain that better than me.
For example if you have a problem with the ultrasonic ranger, just type "ultrasonic Arduino tutorial" and you will find tons of tutorials and guides about it.
My main focus is to design models. Electronics and software are basically the same as every other project, I didn't invent anything new, all the components and codes that I use are everywhere in the makers world.

Hello. Is the fixed version available for download? Or do you have to buy it back?

In the V4 chassis, the wheel axes between the right and left side are not aligned. There is a difference of 0.36 mm.

Part "nano_support" needs to be scaled by a factor of 10.

What do you mean by "welding required"? Might glue also work?
