My son asked me to design a nice storage box for his Nintendo Switch cartridges. So i made this cute skeleton box with a dual purpose. The tray for the cards is removable, so you can use it as a conventional storage box for your desktop/office in you want to.
You can store 11 Nintendo Switch cartridges inside + 6 micro SD cards.
You can also enlarge the box as much as you want, to make a conventional storage box. The orange one in the pictures was printed at 150%.
NO SUPPORTS NEEDED.
As most of my designs, no supports are needed.
NO NEED FOR A MULTICOLOR PRINTER.
This design is made of individual parts. So its easy for anyone to make a nice, colorful print without any color change.
ALL PARTS ARE ALREADY PLACED.
Like all my other designs, all the parts are already placed in the right orientation for printing. Open the stl files, print them with your favorite settings, and voilà!
FOR BAMBULAB OWNERS WITH AN AMS:
A 3mf files with predefined colors is included in the folder.
NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS:
-The hinge is a print-in-place model. So it is normal to have the whole hinge inside the stl. Print it as is and it should work really fine.
-Because of the curved shapes, smallest layer height will give you a better finish. BUT i have printed the large one with a 0.24 layer height to test it, and as you can see on the pictures, althought the layer lines are really visible the look of the print is very nice and totally acceptable. Feel free to use your prefered layer height.
-To assemble the model, simply glue the hinge at the back of the chest. Insert the rivets in the hinge first, to use them as alignment pins, and then glue the hinge on the chest. Be careful not gluing both half of the chest together or the hinge itself.
Then once its done, you can glue the eyes and the nose in place if you have choosen the individual stls version.
DO NOT GLUE THE CARTRIDGE RACK INSIDE THE BOX.
I will come later with more rack designs, for large SD cards and other stuff, so if you wanna change the type of rack later, its better to simply drop the rack in the box without any adhesives.
Simple as this.
Be careful with enlarging the box, this will creat long overhangs inside the cover and you'll need to slow down your print to have nice clean overhangs. But its not that hard, and any printer can do it with the right settings.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will try to help you as much as i can as usual.
Have fun!
