3D model description

⚠️⚠️⚠️ NOTICE ⚠️⚠️⚠️
If you received an email from Cults about an update of this model, then ignore it. I probably sent an update by mistake when I added a video to the Gallery. I did not perform any change on the model, so there is no need to download it again. 🙂

Hello everyone,

🦉There's an owl!🦉

And she's amazing!🤗

Why?🤔

Because this owl is guarding your keys!🗝️

He probably won't kick a potential key thief in the finger, and quite likely the key thief would steal an owl as well. But .... look at her! Those eyes of hers!

Ok, that might be enough. I admit that this project was sometimes too much for me. But it was and is a pleasure to work on it! So do not forget to subscribe. Than you don't miss any next unsual models. 🙂

In .rar file is manual with pictures and with english and czech interpretation. 😉

having trouble printing the eye roller where the string goes in prusaslicer, getting disconnected material. even with cura i get a strange thinning on the side of the string wheel. Is there a new version, or a trick to it?

JONVARTERESIAN - Hi, Which size of perimeter you using? When you print this part with 0.12, everything's be ok...

Yes! That solved the problem. Came out perfect! Thanks!

the idea is great .sadly as many projects here ,having parts way to thin .the part 1 the holder is thinner then paper . how can you print this?
how you mount the owl on a wall?

SHIZEE
oui c'est de la STL.

Le hibou ne semble pas bien lisse sur tous les screens montrés, ça vient du STL ?

KADYDIY - Thank you! It will be my pleasure to add your video to the gallery here. 😉

Q: The archive only contains the eyes? What am I doing wrong here? I'm using 7-zip.
I also downloaded the free eyes package. It has exactly the same name as the "full" package.

Q:Hello!
Does it really work well to print the main body upright without support?
Feels like the inner top part (red part here: https://i.imgur.com/f3BWttX.png) would end up bad since it's so steep.
If I can print it without supports that's great, but I just want to make sure before I waste any filament.
Thanks!

A: Hi,
sorry for late writeninng. If you use "Z hop" settings, you may not problem with printing. 🙂

Q: hello we made the product but we cannot operate the mechanism. Is there a picture or video for this?

A: Hello,
When you download this model, in zip file is tutorial how it makes function. 😉

JRUGGIERO30
Q: do any of the parts need support? thanks!

A: Hi,
The biggest problem of thes print is upper part of the owl. When noozle traveling across the print between eyeholes, noozle can crash the model. If you turned on "Z hop" settings, there is not problem here and you probably don't need use a supports. 😉

HELLMAKER
Q: The eyes are to big for the holes inside the owl. When trying to spin them around it is blocked.
Am i doing it wrong? Does it work for you guys?

A: Try sanding surface around eyeholes. Some printers making there bad surface.

ALANLYUK:
Looks similar to this

A: yeah, that's was my inspiration for this project. In the few months ago i don't was be a good designer, so i tryed something easy like this. Design likes similiar, but principe of mechanism is my work. But don't worry, i'm learning how to be better designer. Now i'm working on project which looks diferent than anything else. 🙂

AURELIENLANSMANNE
Excellent design. I struggled a bit.. well.. ok.. I struggled a lot while tring to tie the thread, but it works ! I printed the model at 150% because my keys and keychains are quite big. may need to switch to a stronger thread later on...

A: Hi,
thank you for your feedback and help for the others users when i don't have been here. 😉🙂 Yes, get the string under the little bridge is challenge. 😃 My friend also printed owl bigger, than is original. He printed it on 250% bigger with 0,6 noozle. looks great!

HYPNODRAGON:
Q: Does the knot have to be over or under the bridge??

A: Hello,
Better is under the bridge. 🙂

Saw this selling on Etsy, not sure if affiliated..

A: Yep, this man has my allow for selling this object. Thank you for contacting me. 😉

GOMEZNICOLASNG:
Q: Hola baje los archivos e imprimi el que estan todos juntos, cuando lo arme los ojos y demas mecanismos son grandes, hay que achicarlos? A que porcentaje?
Gracias

A: Hi,
I don't know how large is your printing plate. but for the best result don't make this object smaller. there is parts, which can't be printed, when you shrink all parts of object. But on the other side, if you want print this object bigger, there is not problem.

RXAU:
I really like this owl. But I wish there was a way to cover the back side.

A: Hey,
Yeah, I'm tryed make back part for the owl, but when i sometimes have problem with weight, which stucks inside the owl, than i don't have option how can i got in mechanism, when there is a full back part. That's the reason why i'm not added this version of the back. Have nice day!

FFIO, STEAKHAT and BRAYANHUAMANI:

Q: Every time my print gets to about the top of the eyes, the owl is knocked forward and the print fails. Any tips to get a successful print would be appreciated.

Also: Tengo un error, al llegar a la altura un poco más arriba de los ojos la impresión se traba, el filamento queda en la boquilla.

A: Hi, if turn on "Z hop" settings in your slicer, you may solve this problem. That's mean, when noozle goes from point A to point B, will be Z axe lifted up than last printed layer for time of traveling across printed object. If you have still this problem after turning on this settings, than try gets here a supports for this part of print. 😉

I like the design, but I am having the same problem as Steakhat. Every time my print gets to about the top of the eyes, the owl is knocked forward and the print fails. Any tips to get a successful print would be appreciated.

Tengo un error, al llegar a la altura un poco más arriba de los ojos la impresión se traba, el filamento queda en la boquilla.

Great design. I am having a very hard time to print. Every time the print reaches the eye or above the eye it crashes. The filament get caught on the nozzle and end up dragging the head all over the printer. I have played with speed / fan / bridges .. I print with a Prusa PLA 215/60 . My other prints are flawless. I there a magic setup to print it successfully ? I am using a Prusa Mk3s+ . Thanks in advance for any advice.

Does the knot have to be over or under the bridge??

@Hypnodragon The eyes will only spin in one direction (they are blocked by the small bit on top, and that's intended).
Insert the thread into the groove (on the eyes). There is a small "bridge" between both sides. The thread has to go under this part. Keep ~20cm of thread on each side. Then, join both ends of the thread, knot and tie, and it should work.

I can't seem to figure how to get the eye to spin. And how to tie the knot around the eye. Can you show how to knot the eyes? I can’t figure out how to do it from under that loop part

The archive only contains the eyes? What am I doing wrong here? I'm using 7-zip.
I also downloaded the free eyes package. It has exactly the same name as the "full" package.

7Zip does not like the Rar archives, recommend using WinRAR to unzip the files.

Hello there, I use Cura slicer and there works great. Which perimetr you use?

Hey Blamm, yes i have.

Quicky, do you have your line width on 0.4mm? That works fine for me

Hello, i have the same mistake -> https://imgur.com/a/Dlc08KA
in PrusaSlicer and Cura also. It´s the part of deflection roller. Can you help? Thank you.

hi, I bought the owl but the black part (the back of the eyes) has the part where the knot is made, too delicate, even when 100% infill is broken it immediately breaks.

BLAMM - Hello, if you wont, you can add a supports. But Me and other people printed this object with out supports.

Great looking owl, bought it immediately! Would you recommend using supports for the eyes? That's the only place I can see going wrong when printing upright

Thanks for the answer! I'll buy from you :)

RAFAELCM27 - hello, this model is just for private use. But if you want sell 3D printed model to few friends, I don't have problem with this. Have nice day. 😉

ZOPARESS - Hi, this bug is in configuration on your slicer.

Is the printed owl (not the file) allowed for selling? Or just for private use?

Amigo necesito ayuda para armar el búho. No se cómo o dónde va el contrapeso. Ayuda porfa

LUKYSY - hi, that little bug was removed. Thank you for your feedback. 🙂

NERISSACHEUNG

Q: is it possible to have like a back plate for the owl mount on wall for those that will use 3m tape?

A: Hi, I don't think tape is a good idea. 🙂 It is always better to hang an owl on a nail. with a load, the owl can peel off and break. have a nice day! 🙂

CAPUCINE

Q:Hi, I bought and downloaded the Owl stl key holder, I would like to make a set of them with different eyes expression. Do I have to buy the others or can you just send me the stl for the eyes option only?
Thanking you
Regards
Marie France :)

A: Hi, I'm answering your question. 🙂 Here you can download different eyes: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/owl-wall-key-holder-eyes-1-0

STEVENBROUWERS

Q: hi there, I am struggling how to build the owl! you need some kind of rope I guess? do you have maybe a build video? thanks for your help

A:Hi Steven,
yes you need sewing thread and iron weights. I used a nut. There is a detailed instruction in the .rar file. 😉

NELSONRB - Yes. They are in .rar file. Manual is with pictures and with english interpretation. 😉
