3D model description

I use the Wacom pen every day and I always find sad to keep it randomly on my desk, so I've 3d printed a pen holder!
It feature:
- Gripping arms, to keep the pen always safe
- Movable legs (it will not run away)
- Secret nibs stash: you'll never run out of them

The body is kept together by magnets to make it easier to assemble; also the gripping arms spring open thanks to the repulsing force of magnets.

Include a detailed manual for assembly.

You can buy the magnets needed here:

@SKJAERE, I've uploaded those parts as a separate file, you can find them inside: cluster_09_v001

The bars that go on the sides of the arms that hold the pen are missing from the files. Any chance you could update this so that they are included?

what size magnets are recommended?

Hey I'm interested in buying this but it would be good to see the pdf before paying for it. I'd like to know exactly what I need so I can check if there's a local source for the particular magnets in my country before committing to buying.

@7UNW3N: unfortunately no, the shape of the pieces and their layout will be really hard to print on an FDM printer

Is this printable using FDM?

@vassteel: those are just for the cap on the bottom base, it can be glued or you can use circular ones drilling slightly into the square holes.
Let me know how it goes

The magnet Source does not ship to USA. Cant find any sources for 1x1mm cubes

@square I gotcha, thanks for the info!

@polycarp20: yes all polygons. It's tricky as you need to work with higher resolution (especially on rounded parts) to be accurate.
But if you double check everything, even giving good tolerances is achievable

Thank you for the info! I'm guessing you use polygon modeling in Maya, do you have any difficulties with precise dimensions of parts? Sometimes its difficult in blender

@polycarp20: I use maya as my principal 3d software

What modeling software did you use to create this?

@Kommi: It could work then, also in terms of weight they seam similar

Hm, it should possibly work then, @Square, I'm gonna use it for like a Lamy Safari or a Pilot Metropolitan. I have some chunkier pens too though if those end up being too thin.

Hi Guys, thanks for the interest.

@Kommi: depends on the diameter of the pen, do you know the size? The magnets are just for spring the arms open; so the Wacom pen magnets don't have any influence

@Dreamless: It work best with a diameter of 15 mm, so probably the apple pen is too thin

Could it be adapted for the apple pencil?

Will this work with normal fountain pens? Or does it rely on magnets in the Wacom pen?
