3D model description

This is a simple and fun project for students to apply knowledge they learn in the classroom to create a functional speaker. These simple steps will go over school topics like
Electricity, Faraday's Law of induction, electromagnetism, magnetic fields, alternating current, acoustic sounds and frequencies. The video I created, complete with a 3D animation explaining how it works, will walk you though every step to create your very own working speaker.

I spent many hours researching and studying speakers and how they can be created. This design is similar to the one Alexander Graham Bell used in 1876 to say those famous first words "Mr. Watson, come here — I want to see you.” I then started to model and print different designs and iteration until I found the best and simplest design with the fewest parts. Moving the magnets to the top with tape in a cross pattern for extra vibration was actually a last minute idea that worked out better then I thought.

Objectives: Electricity, acoustics, Faraday's Law of induction, electromagnetism, magnetic fields, alternating current, sound and frequencies.
Audiences: Anyone interested. I would think middle school to high school would enjoy this project.
Preparation: materials and instructions are listed in the video I created.
3 neodymium magnets 18x3mm
1 male to male stereo cable 3.5mm
magnet wire 32 gauge
2 Alligator clips
Steps! The steps are listed in the video.
Results: At the end of the project, students should have working speaker they can have and keep to use as well as a better understanding of how a speaker works and is created out of simple parts.
