3D model description
The monumental vase is decorated with strips of leaves and braids, and a frieze of fifteen riders. The object is similar to Attic marble funerary vases of the fourth century BC. It contained perhaps originally the remains of the deceased. Found in Pergamum during the reign of Sultan Murad I (1359-1389), it contained two alabaster urns filled with gold which are now kept in Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. This vase however is on display in the Louvre.
