Here's a super cute and easy-to-print caterpillar!
My goal was to make something easy to print, with very few chances of stringing and with a first layer without small intricate sections difficult to print. In other words: The best articulated model to practice your print-in-place capabilities.
It can be scaled up or down, but the smallest i was able to print it was 50% of the original size. (The tiny purple one).
The orange one is the original size, and it makes 320mm long. But it is placed on the bed to fit a 220x220 bed with no problem.
As usual, this print-in-place model is totally support free.
All the files are already placed in the right orientation.
A test file is included called "body link test". it will help you make some tests before printing the whole thing and it can be use to define your color scheme too.
FOR THE COLORS: The head is printed independently from the body, which let you the opportunity to print the body with multiple color changes if you want, giving you a wide array of possibilities for colors and schemes like the pictures.
NOTE: Insert the head link IN THE BODY FIRST, without the head. Its much easier this way. Do not glue the head link in any ways.
The head link is a bit hard to insert in his hole (the hole in the body). Insert it a bit diagonaly, and wiggle it up and down while pushing it. (Don't worry, the orientation of the print makes it difficult to break).
It will snap in place. If its really too hard try scaling down of 1% in the slicer, or use a sandpaper to smooth just a bit the link's tip.
All the other components of the head must be glued in place. (eyes components and antennas)
If you have any issues with this model, send me a message! If you have any questions regarding the color change procedure, again tell me and i will try to help you as much as i can!
Share your makes! It always a great pleasure to see your work!!!
Have fun!
