3D model description

A 3D-printable, scalable, realistic-style, detailed pumpkin complete with lifelike surface textures! Meticulously digitally sculpted by yours truly! Perfect for Autumn or Halloween, or anytime. The stem wraps around and makes 2 points of contact with the pumpkin, so there is potential for attaching a loop to it CAREFULLY.

This pumpkin is 3D-print-ready, thoroughly tested, and ready to make it's home wherever you may place it ! I have provided alternate versions with the stem separated from the body so that you can do 2 separate prints in different materials without requiring a fancy color-changing printer!

Tested (flat-bottom version) at both 50% and 100% (about 8cm diameter) scale, as well as with/without the stem being printed separately. Refer to the provided photos. I have not yet tried sizes below 50% or above 100%, but I will plan to update when I do! If you print the stem separate, you will want to use supports, as it is irregularly-shaped and makes very little contact with the build plate. You can attach the stem with some glue.

I hope you enjoy this pumpkin as much as I do!

NOTE:
Color renderings of this design are for demonstrational purposes only (since the model can be printed in 2 colors if desired). The rendering isn't an included part of the model itselft! The model is just a mesh of polygons to be 3D printed (with no material properties included).

3D printing settings

To really get the most out of this model, you should print at the highest resolution you can manage, or scale up the model.

I have included the full pumpkin model, as well as one pre-cut on the bottom for printing. I have not tested printing out the model without making the bottom flat, and would not recommend it. You will likely need additional support/adhesion measures if you do, and that will probably mess with the outer finish (and it's not flat so it will roll around!)

If your printer/filament, etc. are giving you trouble with overhangs (such as near the base of the model or the stem), I recommend that you scale X/Y down a bit so the pumpkin isn't as wide. I just really like the look of it wide like it is, and considered it a success since my first and following print attempts were great.

My prints were done on a stock Creality Ender-3 V2 Neo with 0.4mm nozzle. The filament I used was Polymaker Polylite PLA in black (you can buy bulk spools of 5kg to save some money). Models contain a LOT of polygons, so it may take some extra seconds to load.

Print Settings Used:

temperature - 200C hotend, 50C bed (every filament will vary)
layer height - 0.2mm (100% scale model), 0.12mm (50% scale model)... You can go as low as your setup can handle though, keeping in mind the sharp overhangs under the stem.
speed - 40mm/s - 60mm/s (I started slower for the small model, but when I tried faster I saw no noticeable difference... you probably should lean slower the smaller the print)
supports - No! Unless you are printing the stem by itself, or trying to print the whole (not flat-bottomed) version (untested).
adhesion - Shouldn't be necessary, but I like to use skirt to prime the flow of filament.
walls/perimeters - I like to use 4 wall lines when I want quality and no infill showing through them.
infill - 10% but add more if you want (will cost more time/material, but the model will be heftier).
