3D model description
I was watching a video on building a puppet (which I have done before) and thought back to how dangerous and annoying it is to saw a wooden ball in half. The video also mentioned that trying to use doll eyes isn't the greatest because they tend to have stems that hurt the puppeteers hand. With a few moments of thought, this idea was born.
A simple socket and stem system allows for tons of glue contact while retaining the low profile needed for comfort. While I would recommend painting the eyes, you can print in whatever color you want. Maybe you need rainbow eyes for your wacked out character!
I hope that these designs ease the strain for anyone wanting to make their own professional style puppet at home. Having built a few of them, I can say that the eyes aren't only hard part about doing it, but they're up there.
Enjoy and good luck!
