Sculpture by robert sabio

"See no evil"

This saying is the true meaning of the three wise monkeys, and their role is to protect you from evil thoughts and actions.

In case anyone doesn't already know, there is a symbol representing an Asian proverb: the three wise monkeys, covering their eyes, ears and mouth, respectively, with their hands

In Japan, the three wise monkeys represent a popular saying: Mizaru, Kikazaru, Iwazaru. To see (without evil), to hear (without evil), to speak (without evil). For those unfamiliar with Eastern philosophy, this may sound like a no to civil courage. And yet the maxim means the opposite.

The proverb goes back to the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Some 2,500 years ago, he advocated benevolence and a moral sense. Do not be influenced by evil, better yet, avoid evil altogether so as not to be infected by it. This does not mean, however, that you should look the other way when others need help, on the contrary! After all, the welfare of state and society was at the heart of Confucian philosophy.

This saying is the true meaning of the three wise monkeys, and their role is to protect you from bad thoughts and actions.

In case someone doesn't know yet, there is a symbol that represents an Asian proverb: the three wise monkeys, covering their eyes, ears and mouth, respectively, with their hands.

In Japan, the three wise monkeys represent a popular saying: Mizaru, Kikazaru, Iwazaru. To see (without evil), to listen (without evil), to speak (without evil). To those unfamiliar with Eastern philosophy, this fact may sound like a no to civil value. And yet the maxim means the opposite.

The proverb dates back to the Chinese philosopher Confucius. About 2,500 years ago, he advocated benevolence and moral sense. Do not be influenced by evil, better still, avoid evil altogether so as not to be infected by it. This does not mean, however, it does not imply that you should look the other way when others need help, on the contrary! After all, the welfare of state and society were at the heart of Confucian philosophy.
