Welcome to Palermo, Sicily!
The Politeama theater is located in Piazza Ruggero Settimo, right in the center of Palermo.
The name comes from "πολύς" (a lot) e "θεάομαι" (to watch).
The building is an important example of neoclassical architecture. It has a large entrance by way of thriumphal arch topped by the bronze quadriga designed by Mario Rutelli.
The value of this structure lies on its main usage, as a “theater of the people” (that could hold up to 5 thousand people back in 1874).
