NestEgg - A Naturally Unnatural Birdhouse

My second entry into the #POLYMAKERCHALLENGE

A little change here, a little color there... It doesn't take much for something natural to become... unnatural.

A small stone- or egg-shaped birdhouse sits upon a brightly colored branch, or is it a neuron surrounding a neuroreceptor?

This is my second "Inspired by Nature" piece that blends something useful with something natural, filtered through the lens of modernist design.

The "nest" was modeled completely in Fusion 360, whereas the branch was first modeled in Fusion 360 further modified in Sculptris and Blender.

I have split the models to be printed as easily as possible and assembled with glue. Supports are required from bed only.

Originally intended to be larger, I have scaled this model down to 60% to ensure that it fits on a 200x200x200 build area. It prints wonderfully at this scale and could still function as a house for a small bird. I printed it at 0.2mm layers, three outlines, and 15% infill.
