1. Tanya, can you say a few words about yourself and your work?
I am a doctor. 1.5 years ago we bought a 3D printer for home usage and I learnt to print. I liked it very much.
My first work was a detail for the meat chopper. Then I started to draw and print small household stuff : napkin holders, candle holders, pendants, etc.
I learnt myself Autodesk 123D program and learnt how to configure the printer.
Now my grandkids are playing with toys printed on the 3D printer.
My friends have gifts that I designed.
People from the community of 3D printing high marks put my products on the sites dedicated to 3D printing.
2. Where do you get your inspiration to create your great designs?
I get inspiration from the world around.
For example, my houseplants have inspired me to manufacture some stands for napkins.
I made a comfortable bowl for water for my pet squirrel Kuzya.
He was glad :).
4. What 3D printer have you got and what are your regular printing settings?
We have got printer Prusa i3 which was assembled by our friend.
We are considering the possibility of acquiring another printer at the moment.
I print with the thread ABS 1.75 mm 15-25% print Infill.
I change plastic color during printing.
Very interesting and unusual patterns such as "red vase" turn out.
5. Finally, among all your great work, what is your favorite creation?
I like all my models since to invent them, to draw and print I have to spend a lot of efforts.
I like my plastic Google Cardboard most of all. There were a lot of comments from the 3D community. It has undergone many changes because I have tried to improve it. The work has not finished completely.
I would like to make this thing comfortable, functional and accessible to everybody.
Nowadays I'm working on a version of Google Cardboard 2015 with 37 mm lenses for larger smartphones.
